Botanical Interests "Purple Ribbon" French Lavender Seeds

The wing-like petals of these lavender flowers look like purple butterflies resting atop deeper purple flower heads. The 18 tall plants have soft gray-green, scented foliage, and its exquisite flowers attract bees and butterflies to make your garden alive with fragrance, color, and sound. The strong, compact plants are ideal for herb, rock, and flower gardens, and are they lovely in containers. Often grown as an annual, this variety is perennial in zones 7-10. (In colder climates, you can take cuttings from your plants or bring them indoors to over winter.) French Lavender is also known as Spanish or Italian Lavender, and this variety is also sometimes called Rabbit Ears.

When to plant outside: In early spring, as soon as the soil can be worked or late fall in warm climates. Seed benefits from the cold treatment period that occurs during winter.

When to start inside: Recommended for Northern climates. 10-12 weeks before average last spring frost. Transplant seedlings outside after the average last frost.

Special Germination Instructions: Germinates best when sown on the surface of the soil with a temperature of 60-70 degrees. Seeds sprout within 3-4 weeks, but you can have seeds germinating over several weeks. Seeds may sprout better after stratification, a moist/cold treatment. If there is no germination after 4 weeks, move the seeds to the refrigerator and keep at 30-40 degrees for 3-6 weeks, then move back to 60-70 degrees. "
