Botanical Interests "English Bedder Blend" Wallflower Seeds

Perennial to USDA zone 3. Blooms in spring. Full sun to light shade. 10 - 12" tall and wide. 'Bedder Blend' English Wallflower has dense clusters of fragrant, 1/2", velvety, richly colored flowers in shades of yellow, orange, brown, and rusty red. A 'must' for any English garden or rock garden, these very fragrant and showy flowers are also especially nice in containers and as a ground cover for spring blooming bulbs. Does well in coastal and mountainous regions where it thrives in cool summers. Prefers moist, but well-drained soil. Frequent deadheading may extend the 4-8 week bloom period even further. Usually blooms the 2nd year after sowing, but starting seeds indoors will give you the best chance for flowering the first season. Native to Southern Europe and the cliffs and rocky areas of Greece.

When to plant outside: Sow seed in spring, 2-4 weeks before the average last frost or in early fall, 2 months before average first frost.

When to start inside: Sow 6-8 weeks before average last spring frost.

Special Germination Instructions: Seedlings are very susceptible to damping off (fungal seedling disease); use a very light, sterilized soil mix and water from the bottom. "
